Hadith of the Day – July 8

It is not lawful to desert your brother for more than three nights

Full Hadith

حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ يُوسُفَ، أَخْبَرَنَا مَالِكٌ، عَنِ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم قَالَ ‏ “‏ لاَ تَبَاغَضُوا، وَلاَ تَحَاسَدُوا، وَلاَ تَدَابَرُوا، وَكُونُوا عِبَادَ اللَّهِ إِخْوَانًا، وَلاَ يَحِلُّ لِمُسْلِمٍ أَنْ يَهْجُرَ أَخَاهُ فَوْقَ ثَلاَثِ لَيَالٍ ‏”‏‏.‏

Narrated Anas bin Malik:
Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ) said, “Do not hate one another, nor be jealous of one another; and do not desert one another, but O Allah’s worshipers! Be Brothers! And it is unlawful for a Muslim to desert his brother Muslim (and not to talk to him) for more than three nights.


Lesson

This Hadith explains the importance of forgiving and forgetting. If one’s brother/sister does something rude, one should not abandon them for longer than three nights; instead, he/she should forgive them, forget the deed, and continue life with them.

Ayah of the Day – July 7

Spend in the way of Allah and do not put yourselves into destruction, and do good. Indeed, Allah loves those who do good.

Quran 2: 195


Full Ayah

وَأَنفِقُوا فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ وَلَا تُلْقُوا بِأَيْدِيكُمْ إِلَى التَّهْلُكَةِ ۛ وَأَحْسِنُوا ۛ إِنَّ اللَّهَ يُحِبُّ الْمُحْسِنِينَ

Allah says in Surah Baqarah Ayah 195:
“Spend in the way of Allah and do not put yourselves into destruction, and do good. Indeed, Allah loves those who do good.”


Lesson

Allah stresses the importance of giving charity in this Ayah. Giving Zakah/Sadaqah brings goodness to oneself; these actions are a means of protecting ourselves from sin and hardships. Hence, we should all strive to do good deeds, for “Indeed, Allah loves those who do good
