MG/YA Book Recommendations with Mental Health Rep

The Miscalculations of Lightning Girl
by Stacy McAnulty

⭐⭐⭐ 3.5/5

This book follows the story of Lucy Callahan, a 12-year-old math prodigy who developed obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) after a lightning strike. As she navigates middle school, Lucy struggles with the need for control and perfection, all while trying to step outside her comfort zone. While the representation of mental health is amazing and the book explores positive themes of personal growth, self-acceptance, and overcoming challenges, it does feel a bit boring at times. The plot can be predictable, and the pacing slows down in certain sections, leaving the story feeling somewhat incomplete.
